Day Two of the Inflation Stress Test
Futures are mixed this morning. Nasdaq 100 +0.5%, S&P +0.2%, Dow off 26 points. Tech is trying to claw back yesterday's 0.9% drop... but the bond market isn't cooperating. The 10-year yield closed at 4.46%, its highest since late March.
April PPI lands at 8:30 a.m. ET. If wholesale prices echo yesterday's hot CPI, the "inflation is bleeding through" story becomes the consensus call. Watch core PPI specifically.
Two other catalysts today. Kevin Warsh gets his full Senate floor vote for Fed Chair, succeeding Powell on Friday. And Trump leaves for Beijing tonight with Tim Cook and Elon Musk in tow.
Tickers I'm watching: Alibaba (BABA) reports before the bell. Cisco (CSCO) after the close... options pricing a 9.9% move. CSCO is up 30% on the year on AI infrastructure orders. The bar is high.
