Why I Write These Letters

I do not usually make these letters about me. The market hands us plenty to talk about without my life story getting in the way. 

But every so often it is worth telling you where a person is coming from, so you know whose voice is showing up in your inbox each morning.

I have been doing this for more than thirty years now. Long enough to have been wrong in just about every way a person can be wrong about a market, but right enough times to live off the income from it.

What I've learned...

The market does not punish people for being foolish nearly as often as it punishes them for being uninfomred.

That is why I write. Not to hand you the next hot ticker... there is no shortage of people willing to do that.

 

I write because somewhere out there is a reader who is a few years from retirement, who has worked a whole life for the money they have, and who deserves at least one voice in the morning that has been there and done that.

I will tell you what I actually think, I will tell you plainly when I do not know.

That is the whole job, the way I see it.

Help careful people keep what they have worked for, and grow it at a pace that lets them sleep at night. The rest is noise.
