Warsh Day. NVDA Wednesday. The Bond Market Already Voted.
Pre-market futures are red across the board. Dow -0.7%, Nasdaq -0.5%, Russell -0.5%. VIX up 4.3% to 19.22. Friday's stumble is continuing into Monday's open.
Kevin Warsh takes over the Fed today. The 10-year closed Friday at 4.55%, its highest yield in nearly a year. The bond market has already cast its vote on what hot CPI plus hot PPI means... rate cuts are off, rate hikes are a real probability.
This week is light on data but heavy on consequence. Nvidia (NVDA) reports Wednesday after the close. Home Depot (HD) tomorrow morning, the cleanest read on the American consumer we'll get this quarter. FOMC minutes Wednesday afternoon.
One data point I keep returning to: the Semiconductor Index is up 143% over twelve months. The S&P 500 Equal Weight is up 15%. That gap is the entire bull market in one chart. NVDA needs to be perfect Wednesday.
