The calendar. Tuesday at 8:30am brings April CPI... the only data point this week that moves portfolios. Consensus is 3.7% headline, up from 3.3% in March. Core +0.4% month over month. PPI follows midweek, FOMC April minutes drop Wednesday afternoon, retail sales Thursday. With crude near four-year highs, every basis point matters.
Three I'm watching. Constellation Energy (CEG) Monday... the nuclear-powering-AI thesis put to real numbers. Cisco (CSCO) and Alibaba (BABA) Wednesday in the same session... old-economy networking and the China rebound, both on the same tape. Applied Materials (AMAT) Thursday... the cleanest read on whether AI capex is still buying chip equipment.
Quietly flagged. D-Wave (QBTS), Rigetti (RGTI), and Oklo (OKLO) all report this week. The quantum and small-modular-reactor speculative bench, all inside five sessions. Listen to what they say more than what they earn.
One last thing... when the headline number flashes Tuesday morning, ignore it. Read the core. That's the one your portfolio actually feels.
