The bond market ran the week and stocks lost.
Friday clawed some of it back. Then Nvidia reports Wednesday, and Jackson Hole follows.
The Week That Was
All three indexes finished lower. The S&P 500 snapped a three-week win streak and the Dow logged back-to-back weekly losses.
Through Thursday it looked worse. The S&P was down 1.9 percent on the week, the Nasdaq down 2.5 percent.
Friday repaired part of the damage. The Dow rose 517.80 points to 53,277.01, up 0.98 percent. The S&P 500 closed at 7,674.37 and the Nasdaq at 26,180.46, each up 0.43 percent. The Russell 2000 added 0.85 percent to 3,017.87.
"A massive and surprising new transition could determine the next group of millionaires," says Chaikin, who predicted the 2020 market crash.
"While leaving 99% of the public worse off than before." "If you own regular stocks, you're in for a big surprise," he adds.
Macro Pulse
One story drove everything: yields. The 10-year finished near 4.7 percent and the 30-year near 5.25 percent, both at decade highs.
Treasury doubled its buybacks of long-dated debt to $4 billion per operation. The relief lasted about a day. A buyback changes when the debt comes due, not how much of it the market has to absorb.
Brent traded near $94 after five straight up days, with Hormuz unresolved. Bitcoin had its best week in two years, running toward $80,000 for the first time since May.
Walmart was the week's warning shot. Comparable sales grew 2.6 percent against the 3.8 percent Wall Street expected, and the stock fell 9.15 percent Thursday.

Stock Highlight: NVDA
Nvidia reports Wednesday after the close. Consensus sits near $91.9 billion in revenue and $2.08 a share, roughly 97 percent growth against last year.
Here is the important stuff. Most of that quarter is already public. Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon and Meta spent a combined $166 billion on capital projects in Q2, up 87 percent from a year ago. Nvidia's revenue line is largely their expense line.
Think of a contractor whose only four customers have already filed their building budgets with the county. You can work out what he billed. What you cannot work out is what he says about next year's order book.
That is the whole event. Analysts have already penciled $103.1 billion into next quarter, so a beat is the price of admission, not the news.
The other side... the company's guidance excludes China data center revenue entirely. One policy headline can move that forward number without a single thing changing about actual demand.
The Week Ahead
Monday: Treasury Secretary Bessent details the plan to economically isolate Iran. Oil is the tell.
Wednesday: Nvidia Q2 after the close. The guide matters more than the print.
All week: Jackson Hole, with Fed Chair Warsh speaking into a 30-year yield at decade highs.
AMD, INTC, AVGO: Each fell 4 to 5 percent Wednesday. The PHLX Semiconductor Index posted its steepest three-day slide since March, and it trades off Wednesday night.
GEV, ETN, VRT: The power layer under the AI trade. Morgan Stanley put the 2028 shortfall at 38 gigawatts.
He's built a platform that 180,000 people worldwide use in the stock market.
Now he says there's a handful of stocks you need to buy before August 31st, to set yourself up for 1,000% potential returns in the near future.
Here are the stocks you need to buy for the chance to profit.
Bottom Line
Nothing broke this week. The discount rate moved, and everything priced on a long runway got marked down for it.
The AI buildout is real and it is enormous. The market is simply no longer willing to pay any price for a payoff that lands in 2030.
